Climate change is placing increasing pressure on coffee-growing regions around the world. Rising temperatures, prolonged droughts, unpredictable rainfall, floods, and plant diseases are reducing coffee yields and affecting bean quality in major producing countries, including Colombia, Brazil, Vietnam, Ethiopia, and Indonesia. As a result, global coffee prices have risen significantly in recent years.

To adapt, many producers are moving coffee cultivation to higher elevations where temperatures remain more suitable for Arabica coffee. At the same time, researchers are developing more climate-resilient coffee varieties, such as hybrids that require less water and can better withstand heat while maintaining cup quality.

Although innovation and sustainable farming practices offer promising solutions, the article highlights that long-term adaptation will be essential to protect the future of coffee production and ensure a stable supply for consumers worldwide.
